The electricity reform is not dead and is progressing: president of the Chamber of Deputies

The president of the Chamber of Deputies, Sergio Gutierrez Luna, he asserted that the electricity reform initiative is advancing, so he rejected that it is dead, as proposed by the opposition.

However, the coordinator of the PRI deputies, Rubén Moreira, ruled out that it can be discussed in this period, due to the times and the 2022 elections are approaching.

From San Lázaro, the also federal deputy of Morena, Sergio Gutiérrez said that “the reform is going, it is advancing and it is what we are going to promote, to communicate, to crumble. We are going to listen to the proposals. We have to listen, we are going to the open parliament ”.

He even advanced that the Political Coordination Board of the Chamber of Deputies (Jucopo), could meet next week to determine a possible schedule of open parliaments and analysis on the processing of the electrical reform.

In this sense, the president of the lower house considered that if there are conditions to start the debate on this presidential initiative on December 15, the date on which the session ends.

I believe that there are conditions to begin the debate and to begin the subject of open forums, of open parliament with citizens, with specialists and, of course, with business owners and academics, ”he said.

Likewise, he assured that on the issue of electrical reform “You have to convince, argue, have patience, speak, dialogue and it is on the route that we are going at a good pace.”

For what he ruled out that she was dead, since, he said, there has not been a vote yet, “let’s not accelerate, let’s go calmly. We are going to listen to the proposals, we have to listen, we are going to the Open Parliament ”, he emphasized.

On the other hand, the leader of the PRI deputies, Rubén Moreira, reiterated that there is no time for discussion, so he insisted that his analysis will be until after next year’s elections.

“We hope that the discussion will take place in due course, I don’t think it will be in this semester, as we said, nor in the first of the coming year because we have elections. We have not changed our position.

“Our position is clear, we can discuss everything, but you cannot vote now or in the first semester, that is, in the second term. In this one because the year is about to close, and I believe that the reflection has to be long term and we do not think that in the second period of this first year of the Legislature because we have elections in the country, and we do not want it to electoral becomes a constitutional debate, and the constitutional an electoral debate, “insisted the PRI.
