“Several foreign and Malagasy nationals were arrested Tuesday as part of an investigation for endangering state security”, the Attorney General, Berthine Razafiarivony, told reporters Wednesday evening, who has not given more details, for the time being, concerning the motivations.

“According to the material evidence in our possession, these individuals have devised a plan to eliminate and neutralize various Malagasy personalities including the head of state, said the prosecutor. At this stage of the investigation, which continues, the general prosecutor’s office ensures that all light will be shed on this case. “

During the celebration of Madagascar’s independence day, on June 26, the gendarmerie had already announced that it had foiled an assassination attempt by the State Secretariat in charge of the gendarmerie, the right-hand man of the president, General Richard Ravalomanana .
