Over the past few weeks, developer CD Projekt Red has received significant criticism for its handling of Cyberpunk 2077. Before launch, only the PC version of Cyberpunk was provided to the gaming media, effectively preventing consumers from correctly seeing how poorly the game runs on consoles. Meanwhile, the company was telling people that the game worked “surprisingly well” on the latest generation hardware.
Once the players finally got Cyberpunk into their hands and discovered the litany of problems plaguing the game, many began turning to PlayStation and Xbox for refunds. However, store windows did not initially provide a refund to all, despite CD Projekt telling people to request one from them.
Ultimately, this resulted in both PlayStation and Xbox officially committing to issuing refunds on all digital purchases of the game. Soon after, CD Projekt Red confirmed that it would offer refunds to those who bought the game physically.
Meanwhile, CD Projekt has committed to launching two major patches in January and February that it “should fix the biggest problems gamers face on next-gen consoles.”
