Zaldívar delivers credential to Lilia Mónica López as the new counselor of the Federal Judiciary


In solemn session, the president of the Supreme Court of Justice of the Nation (SCJN), Arturo Zaldívar, delivered the credential and the corresponding badge to Lilia Mónica López Benítez as the new counselor of the Federal Judiciary.

“Today a woman, the federal judge, Circuit Magistrate reaches one of the highest peaks in the structure of the Judicial power of the Federation and thereby assumes powers and obligations, but especially a great responsibility that will be demanded of him by the entire society”, said Minister Zaldívar.

When exposing the most relevant aspects of López Benítez’s career in the Judicial Power of the Federation, he described her as “a career judge who has traveled, in its entirety, from judicial officer, transiting as an clerk, court secretary and collegiate court, District Judge and, now, Circuit Magistrate”.

He said he was convinced that the new counselor “will fully dedicate herself to achieving the best conditions for the substantive work of the federal judges, for the benefit of the Judicial Power of the Federation and of our beloved Mexico.”

Meanwhile, the counselor Eva Veronica de Gyves Zarate stressed that Counselor López Benítez’s trajectory, preparation and experience will facilitate and enrich the work carried out in the collegiate body, “because as a member of the Federal Judiciary she knows the institution, the background, the functioning, the history, the competence , the attributions, the preventive development of control and sanctions, the auxiliary bodies, who integrate it, who have integrated it, its purposes, its problems and its possible solutions”.
