Zagreb Judo Grand Prix 2021: a second day flown by the Slovenes

The Slovenian competitors distinguished themselves on the second day of the 2021 Zagreb Judo Grand Prix. Silver medalist at the world championships in Budapest last June, Andreja Leski, expected at the turn this Saturday, shone.

Two golden Slovenes

After flying over the preliminary rounds, the Slovenian snatched the victory in the final against the Dutch Van den Berg.

She therefore won gold in the under 63 kg category, a medal awarded by Vladimir Barta, sports director of the International Judo Federation.

His compatriot, Anka Pogacnik meanwhile won gold in the under 70 kg category, beating the British Kelly Petersen Pollard. Ruben Houkes, director of communication for young people within the International Federation, awarded the medals in this category.

Grigalashvili connects the ippons

Tato Grigalashvili, also a silver medalist at the world championships in Budapest, won all his fights until the final, by chaining the ippons. In his usual, powerful style, the Georgian defeated Brazilian Guilherme Schmidt in the under 81 kg final.

His medal was presented to him by Armen Bagdasarov, Director of Refereeing of the International Judo Federation.

Another winner of the day, Hidayat Heydarov, who got the better of the Moldovan Victor Sterpu in a bitter fight. He won gold in the under 73 kg category. His medal was presented to him by Akinobu Osako, refereeing supervisor of the International Judo Federation.
