Zachary L’Heureux’s camp finished in Nashville

Zachary L’Heureux’s first professional training camp is over as the Nashville Predators cut him off on Monday.

The 18-year-old from Mercier was not selected Sunday by head coach John Hynes to be part of either of the squads used for a doubles program against the Florida Panthers.

Selected in the first round – 27th overall – in the last draft of the National Hockey League, L’Heureux will therefore join the Halifax Mooseheads in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League (QMJHL). He totaled 19 goals and 39 points in 33 games with the Maritimes organization last season.

Defensemen Jack Matier (Ottawa 67’s) and Luke Prokop (Calgary Hitmen) were also cut off by the Predators.
