Re: The locals love Wilkinson; Request the re-election of the former councilor to the city council, September 24
As a resident and homeowner in Kanata North, I sincerely and deeply regret the resignation of our councilor, Jenna Sudds. As I understand from the news, there is a request to the council from various Kanata North community associations to appoint our former councilor, Marianne Wilkinson, to fill the vacant position for the remaining term of the council.
I acknowledge Marianne Wilkinson’s local knowledge and experience when it comes to Kanata North issues. However, I believe that it should be the responsibility of all taxpayers in the ward to select the person they want to represent them at the council table. I understand that a by-election could be an expensive undertaking and may take a few months, but in my opinion that is the fair and democratic way to select a councilor.

We already had elections three years ago, and if the elected candidate, for whatever reason, decides to resign before the end of the four-year term, perhaps the option is to offer the vacant position to the runner-up of that election and, if that person is not interested in it, the council must consider another qualified person.

Re: Grits Would Love To See A Conservative Leadership Run, column, Sep 25
Would liberals love to see a conservative leadership career? Maybe they would, but I don’t because I think the Conservatives shot themselves in the foot when they elected Erin O’Toole and not Peter MacKay as their leader last year. Now it will be difficult to undo this.

ONLY ONE TO BLAME
Regarding the LRT, there is only one person to blame for this rampant mess, and that is Mayor Jimbo’s hizzoner. Face it, everyone knows that advice is just a bunch of big-headed fools.
So Jimbo, how do you feel about your “Legacy Rail Turmoil”? Remember when I admonished you in this very document for accepting the LRT even though you failed the test? How about when you, let’s face it Jimbo, no one else did, it’s all up to you, you decided to buy the same chaotic mess for expansion?
In what can only be described as a Monty Python parody, you are now offering free rides on something that doesn’t work. Brilliant isn’t exactly the word for that.

As it is now, the cost of the LRT will double (at least) as there will be real solutions or you will just provide everything and buy something that works.
It was all a disaster from the start, Jimbo, and don’t try to tell us you weren’t aware of it.

Re: enter, friends; Immigration department draft document reveals plan to loosen rules for aspiring Canadians, Sept. 27
Where are we going to put 400,000 random immigrants and refugees a year? Not doctors or nurses, but any young or old, educated or not, smart or not, just bring them. We already have millions of scarce homes, what is this about? Speaking of insanity, our government is its definition.
