YOU SAID IT: Poilievre message resonates

Re: Far from right idea; Forsaking middle ground will cost Tories in long run, column, April 25

Give me a break. Warren Kinsella has obviously forgotten that the big reason Erin O’Toole did badly last election was due to his moving the party to the left by supporting gun control and carbon taxes. With four far-left federal parties in the Liberals, NDP, Green and Bloc, Canadians desperately need an alternative to high-taxing, high-spending woke socialism. That is exactly why Pierre Poilievre is drawing huge crowds across Canada and recently even in the Liberal-controlled GTA and Northern Ontario. His message from him offering freedom, no carbon taxes, defunding the Liberals’ propaganda machine, the CBC, fiscal responsibility in governance and more affordable housing is resonating, especially with young Canadians.

A recent poll showed most Liberals support Jean Charest for the leadership, which suggests they see him as a far weaker opponent for Justin Trudeau than Poilievre.

WHEN WILL THEY GET IT?

Re: Nothing censored, nothing gained; Grits bury criticisms, insist online motives pure, column, April 23

Censorship has no place in a democratic country, period, and freedom of speech is part of what makes up a democratic society, whether we agree with the opinion of others or not. The one thing that has stood out since Mr. Freeze took office is that the only person who gets to make the rules is him and the only one allowed to break the rules of this country is him. We are to do what we’re told without question. Narcissism is too mild a word in describing this petulant child.

I wonder when Canadians are going to get it through their heads that he doesn’t care about Canadians or this country in general. He continues to allow the sale and takeover of Canadian resources to foreign and hostile entities with no regard for the consequences. If that is not bad enough, the NDP leader claims he made his deal with Justin Trudeau because of the birth of his daughter. He says a lot about him as well.

Trudeau’s end game is to bankrupt Canada and its citizens, and no one is stepping up to stop him. Canada is doomed.

(Many in this democratic country seem to disagree with your point of view.)

SO, JUST WHAT IS IT?

Re: Wait and see, letter, April 23

The letter writer wrote, “We know what we have to do to eradicate this disease.”

Well, no, I haven’t a clue, but, then again, I also haven’t a clue how to remove the screens from my windows, either. (So, there’s that.) Nevertheless, I’m not the only one who hasn’t a clue how to eradicate this disease.

Last July, professor of medicine and epidemiology at the University of Toronto and scientific director of Ontario’s COVID-10 Science Advisory Table Dr. Peter Juni said, “COVID-19 cannot be eradicated.” Obviously, Dr. Juni hasn’t a clue either how to eradicate this disease. (Maybe Juni knows more about window screens.)

Anyway, here’s what needs to happen: The letter writer needs to contact Juni and let him know what needs to be done to eradicate this disease.

Until I hear or read something about what I need to do to eradicate this disease, my focus will be on screens.

(Our screens have little spring tabs that help to remove them.)
