Work Continues on $ 47 Million Joint-Use Elementary School in Regina – Regina | The Canadian News

Progress is being made on what will be the newest joint-use elementary school building in Regina.

The $ 47 million facility, which replaces École St. Pius X and Argyle Elementary School, will feature a unique design, which will include a two-story school for the Regina Public Schools portion and a three-story section for Regina Division of Catholic Schools.

Quorex Construction Services Ltd., the company working on the project, has already installed steel structures, according to an update from the provincial government on Monday.

“As we watch this new joint-use school grow in the Lakeview neighborhood, we are reminded of the benefits that safe and well-designed schools can have for our youth and our communities,” stated Regina Board of Education President Tara Molson, in Update Monday.

“We are excited to see the construction progress and grateful for the partnership with the Government of Saskatchewan and Regina Catholic Schools that are making this new school building possible.”

The building will accommodate 800 students in Pre-Kindergarten through 8th grade (400 students per school) upon completion. However, both schools will be able to expand capacity to 500 students through relocatable classrooms if necessary.

“Being able to stop by the site and follow the construction progress of the new joint-use school is very exciting. Our entire division is looking forward to move-in day, especially the École St. Pius X staff and students, ”said Regina Catholic Schools Board President Vicky Bonnell.

A child care center with space for 51 children will also be located at the facility, along with outdoor learning areas and a miniature gym.

Construction is in its early stages at the moment, but is on track to be completed in the summer of 2023 to welcome students in the fall of 2023.
