Woman charged with second-degree murder in Markham murder

York regional police have charged a 33-year-old woman with second-degree murder after a domestic incident in Markham.

On January 24, at about 6:20 p.m., police were called to a residence in Fred Varley Drive, in the vicinity of Yonge Street and Sciberras Road, for a stabbing report.

A 31-year-old man was stabbed with a knife and taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries. He died at the hospital from his injuries, police said.

Police arrested a woman at the residence and charged with second-degree murder. Her identity and the identity of the victim are not disclosed to protect the identity of an additional family member who was in the residence at the time of the incident, police said.

Investigators are appealing to anyone with information to please come forward.
