The victim, a 34-year-old woman, was stabbed to the lower body, but her life is not in danger. She went alone to a Montreal hospital around 4:15 am on Saturday morning.

“According to initial information, a suspect known to the victim would have broken into a house located on rue Provost, near avenue 13, in the Lachine district. Subsequently, a conflict degenerated, possibly linked to narcotics, ”said agent Caroline Chèvrefils, spokeswoman for the Service de Police de la Ville de Montréal (SPVM).

Still, according to the first elements of the police investigation, the man would have wounded the woman with a knife to the lower part of the body before fleeing.

“Witnesses to the event were received by the police. The suspect, a 31-year-old man, fled and is currently wanted, ”said agent Chèvrefils.

The scene was protected for SPVM investigators. The investigation continues.
