This will be Windsor’s third cricket pitch after smaller versions in Jackson Park and South Walkerville’s Optimist Park.

“It’s important that we continue to activate our available green spaces throughout the city,” Mayor Drew Dilkens said in a statement.

The upgrade of the park — 32 acres along Lauzon Parkway between Forest Glade Drive and the EC Row Expressway — will include improving and extending existing multi-use trails through its woodlot and open space. The cricket field would be situated within the community park.

City staff expect to have a full design completed by the end of the summer to be presented as part of the 2023 proposed capital budget.

“I’m excited for the future of this park and providing additional outdoor spaces that residents in Forest Glade deserve,” Ward 7 Coun. Jeewen Gill said in a statement.
