Windsor police arrest suspect in assault incident in September

A Windsor man wanted by police in connection with an assault incident on the city’s west end in early September was arrested.

Police said Aaron Evans, 30, was located and detained by members of the Repeat Offender Parole Execution Squad (ROPE) and the tactical team.

The defendant was found in a residence in the 3500 block of Sandwich Street.

Evans is expected to face a long list of charges, including assault, suffocation, assault with a weapon, possession of a firearm, possession of a weapon dangerous to the public peace, breach of probation, breach of a warrant of release, operation of a motor vehicle while prohibited, possession of a firearm while prohibited (four counts), and breach of a firearms prohibition (four counts).

The incident took place the night of September 8 in the 400 block of Watkins Street.

Patrol officers responded around 10 p.m. to a report of an assault.
