Former Montreal Canadiens defender PK Subban tweeted his support for Mark Connors on Thursday after the black teenager reported being the victim of racial abuse during a recent hockey tournament in Charlottetown.

Connors, who plays for the Halifax Hawks, said he was repeatedly called the N word at the tournament. Additionally, he said he was told by players on a PEI team that he shouldn’t be playing “a white men’s sport.”

The CBC reports that the Hawks are boycotting tournaments in PEI until the issue is resolved.

“When does it stop?” Subban asked in Twitter . “Believe it or not, these stories are sent to me every day. This happens every day in our game. EVERY DAY!”
