Whats Next? Squads of icing shirts?

A century ago, Benito Mussolini’s violent black-shirted “squadras” persecuted all opponents of National Socialism, until frightened Italian politicians handed over power to him.

Yesterday we saw how they harassed environmentalists who were demonstrating in front of the National Palace. It is not the first time that these “support groups”, presumably morenistas, act against those who are seen as adversaries.

Be careful, verbal violence from Power, inertia and competition to ingratiate oneself can result in “squadras icing” that, like their predecessors the fascist “camicie nere”, prowl around to attack any adversary of the regime.

Inflation: there are not many effective recipes

Yesterday, President Andrés Manuel López Obrador confirmed that, as he announced over the weekend, the Government of the Republic is preparing to put together a program to combat inflation, a true electoral political nemesis.

There have already been meetings with large companies to contain increases in their products, meetings with railway workers to adjust freight rates. At a forced march they elaborate the current version of those Eighties Pacts against inflation.

Now it would be worth taking advantage of institutional memory, to choose the best of the recipes with which inflation was previously fought, the only problem that, like all economic phenomena, is not combated with official discourses and narratives.

Crazy versions of rearrangements

The counterclaim of the former legal adviser of the Presidency Julio Scherer against the prosecutor Alejandro Gertz Manero has led to crazy versions about rearrangements in federal administration and federal justice enforcement bodies.

The delirious versions speak of the intention that this conflict is to open space for the minister of the Supreme Court of Justice Loretta Ortiz to occupy the presidency of the constitutional court.

They are complemented by versions of the prosecutor’s resignation and his replacement by the current head of the Court. They are delusional versions, since it is unthinkable that Arturo Zaldívar would agree to be in the FGR only as head of the office.

SWIRL NOTES

Difficult, as they have told the National Palace, that Americans of Mexican descent are going to vote for the interests of Mexico, not when there in the United States there are problems that affect them personally, family and collectively. Stories brought by those who live from “representing” Mexicans abroad… Regardless of whether Rogelio Ramírez de la O will have to open his wallet to help Agriculture Minister Victor Villalobos combat and isolate the outbreak of avian flu detected in Coahuila. This is no time for pettiness… We can’t do anything anymore. Like six years ago, the current former president Donald Trump puts Mexico as part of the agenda of the electoral political debate for the legislative elections in the United States. He won’t be the only one… It was last year when a National Guard patrol was attacked by hitmen from organized crime who control the felling of the forests that surround the south of the Valley of Mexico… Almost 20 centuries ago the Roman Seneca left us this reflection: “Those who run in a labyrinth, their very speed confuses them”…
