Roger users were dealing with a massive outage across Canada on Friday, affecting most internet, phone, Interac and other services nationwide.

“We know how important it is for our customers to stay connected,” the RogersHelps Twitter account wrote in its initial post.

“We are aware of the issues currently affecting our networks and our teams are fully committed to resolving the issue as quickly as possible. We will continue to keep you updated as we have more information to share.”

Since then, no updates have been provided regarding the cause of the outage or when the services will be back up and running.

Until that time, here is a list of affected services in the London, Ontario area:

City of London

According to a post on Twitter, “those who contact the City of London may receive delayed responses.”

London Police Service

London Police issued a statement on Twitter explaining that while their 9-1-1 lines are operational, they are advising the public not to test their cell phone and internet services by calling their emergency line.

“This links our system for people in need of emergency assistance,” police said on Twitter.


According to a spokesperson for the London Health Sciences Center (LHSC), systems within the hospital appear to be unaffected and there are no changes to patient appointments, including surgeries.

“Virtual care appointments are still available. For patients who are unable to go online, our healthcare teams will be in touch to reschedule your appointment,” wrote Steve Young, LHSC media relations consultant, in an email to Global News.

“Caregivers hoping to bring a loved one who is discharged home today should call the hospital to confirm if they can, as our switchboard is not affected.”

St. Joseph’s Health Care also said its systems are not affected.

Virtual care appointments are still available at both hospitals. For patients who are unable to connect, healthcare teams will be in touch to reschedule appointments.


London Hydro customers with an online account can still request assistance through the MyLondonHydro online chat feature.

Local businesses and gas stations

As the outage continues to affect Interact sales across the country, some local businesses are asking incoming customers to bring cash while Rogers connected debit and credit machines sit idle.

Londoners also took to Twitter to report that their Uber Eats and Skip the Dishes orders were also affected in connection with the outage.

London Public Library

While not affected by the outage, the London Public Library reported that an average of 1,200 Londoners have been using its public Wi-Fi on Friday.
