Weekly US Unemployment Assistance Claims Rise After Historic Slump

New enrollment in subsidies for unemployment in U.S they rose last week, after falling to their lowest level in more than half a century.

Between December 5 and 11, 206,000 people signed up to receive unemployment benefits, an increase of 18,000 from the previous week, according to data released Thursday by the work Department.

The figure beats analysts’ forecasts, who expected 195,000 registrations.

Despite this number, the four-week average stands at 203,750, the fewest since November 1969, the report details.
