Weekend Attack Leaves One Man Dead: Winnipeg Police – Winnipeg | The Canadian News

Winnipeg police are investigating a weekend homicide in the north end of the city.

The force says its officers were dispatched to Burrows Avenue and Aikins Street shortly before 2 a.m. Sunday after receiving a report that a man had been assaulted.

The police provided emergency first aid. Later, the victim was transferred to the hospital where he was declared deceased.

Winnipeg police have not provided any identifying information other than saying he was an adult male.

A Global News reporter on the scene early Sunday afternoon saw multiple police signs around a gray SUV parked in the middle of the street with a Domino’s Pizza marker on the roof.

Winnipeg police say a man died after a reported assault in the Burrows Avenue and Aikins Street area early Sunday morning.

Several police units were at the scene, along with a forensic police van.

At that time, police blocked Burrows Avenue between Salter Street and Charles Street.

This death is Winnipeg’s 35th homicide since the beginning of the year.
