Waterloo Regional Police Seek Witness On Trip Share Sexual Assault

KITCHEN –

The Waterloo Regional Police Service is requesting the public’s help in finding a witness in a sexual assault investigation.

On December 5, officers were called to the Highgate Road and Victoria Street South area around 7 p.m. after receiving a report of a sexual assault while the victim was a carpool passenger.

In a statement issued Thursday night, police said the victim was assisted by a pedestrian walking a dog in the area at the time of the assault.

Investigators hope pedestrians will contact the police.

A 35-year-old Kitchener man was arrested and charged with sexual assault and forcible confinement in the case.

Authorities have yet to confirm whether the defendant was the driver, another passenger, or a third party.

The man was taken into custody for a bail hearing.

Investigators are asking the witness who assisted the victim to contact police at 519-570-9777 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
