Waterloo Public Health reported just 100 active cases of COVID-19 on Wednesday, the lowest total it has announced this year.

The area had passed the 500 active case mark in June and that number slowly declined from that point.

The agency announced another 14 positive tests for the coronavirus, bringing the total number of COVID-19 cases to 19,953.

This reduces the seven-day average daily number of new COVID-19 cases to 13.1.

After reporting two new COVID-19 deaths in the region on Tuesday, none were reported on Wednesday, leaving the death toll in the area at 302, including three deaths in October.

Another 19 people were also cleared of the virus, bringing the total number of resolved cases to 19,547.

The area is also down to having three people in hospitals as a result of COVID-19, including two patients in need of intensive care.

The region still has four active COVID-19 outbreaks, a number that has not changed since Tuesday, and two of them are connected to schools.

On the other side of the coin, Waterloo Public Health reported that there have now been 886,706 vaccines in the region, just 755 more than it reported Tuesday.

The number of new doses administered continues to fall as the number of people vaccinated increases.

The agency says 438,699 residents are now fully vaccinated, 572 more than Tuesday’s report.

This means that 86.51 percent of eligible residents are now fully vaccinated, a number that rises to 74.5 percent when considering those under 11 years of age.

Elsewhere, Ontario reported 304 new COVID-19 cases on Wednesday, the 10th consecutive day the count is less than 500. The total provincial cases now stands at 595,867.

It is also the smallest increase in cases since August 5, when 213 new cases were recorded.

Of the 304 newly registered cases, the data showed that 198 were unvaccinated, 10 were partially vaccinated, 84 were fully vaccinated, and vaccination status was unknown for 12 people.

According to Wednesday reportThere were 46 cases in Toronto, 24 in Sudbury, 22 in the York region, 21 in Windsor-Essex, 20 in Hamilton, 19 in Ottawa and 15 in the Durham region.

All other local public health units reported fewer than 15 new cases in the provincial report.

The death toll in the province has risen to 9,823, as four more deaths were recorded.
