Water is scarce in 81% of the national territory: Conagua

As of May 15, 2022, 81% of Mexico’s territory is in some level of drought, according to information from Conagua (National Water Comission).

The most serious levels of drought are found in the northern border of the country; some regions of Sonora, Chihuahua, Coahuila and Nuevo León have level D3, which implies extreme drought.

The regions where there are still no droughts are in Quintana Roo, Yucatán and Tabasco.
