A bike and hiking trail in the west end of the city received some shade thanks to volunteers who helped plant trees on Saturday.

The Essex Region Conservation Authority (ERCA) organized the event in partnership with the City of Windsor and the Windsor-Detroit Bridge Authority.

The trees were planted next to College Avenue Bikeway Park, which runs between Brock Street and Prince Road.

25 large native Windsor-Essex potted trees were planted including American sycamore, white oak, linden, Freeman’s maple, red maple, and hackberry.

Volunteers would also help with a trash cleanup in the area on Saturday.
