VivaAir announces the commercialization of two new routes to Mexico

The low-cost Colombian company VivaAir announced on Thursday the commercialization of two new routes: Cali-Mexico City and Cali-Cancun, which will begin operating in March 2022.

Each one is expected to add 50,000 passengers in its first year. “Mexico is an essential part of the Viva destination network and our commitment to this country is strong; that is why we add these two new direct international routes to our offer,” said its president & CEO, Félix Antelo.

Each route will have three weekly flights on Tuesday, Thursday and Sunday.

VivaAir currently operates the Medellín-Mexico City, Medellín-Cancun and Bogotá-Mexico City routes (in the latter it has an interline agreement with VivaAerobus through which each company offers the flights of both to give its customers a greater choice).

The airline operates 30 domestic routes in Colombia, four domestic routes in Peru and nine international routes to the United States, Mexico and Peru. In its nine-year history, it has transported more than 28 million passengers and in 2021 it made Medellín official as its hub and connection center for its national and international operations.

Recently, Antelo said that in the holiday season it will be the local company with the largest offer of seats on international flights from Medellín. And from the following year it will add its new flights to Mexico City and Cancun.
