Visit of Louise Mushikiwabo: the OIF office in Quebec confirmed


The Secretary General of La Francophonie, Mr.me Louise Mushikiwabo, along with Prime Minister François Legault, confirmed the creation of an External Representation of the organization for the Americas, in Quebec.

“It’s a great announcement. […] OIF will open an office in Quebec for the Americas,” mentioned the Prime Minister when the Secretary General arrived at the National Assembly. “It will be ten people. So, very happy to have the employees of the OIF, who will have important responsibilities here.”

Mme Mushikiwabo returns to Quebec after “two difficult years” to make this important announcement for the “home” of the Francophonie in America.

“I am happy to establish the Francophonie of the Americas in Quebec. Quebec is our home in North America and it is important for me, in this Francophonie of the future, to have this diplomatic, political and symbolic mission which will take care of the French language from Quebec “, she said in a short statement.
