Quebec is setting up a free 4-hour legal consultation service for victims of sexual and domestic violence.
“All victims will be entitled to it, without exception,” assured Justice Minister Simon Jolin-Barrette, making this announcement Monday morning in Montreal.
This new service – a recommendation from the report Rebuild trust tabled last December by the expert committee on support for victims of sexual assault and domestic violence – represents an annual investment of $ 3 million.
Twelve lawyers trained in sexual and domestic violence are available now to answer questions from victims, in all areas of the law. The service can be reached at 1-833-REBATIR (1-833-732-2847).
More details will follow.
