Vicente Carrillo Fuentes, alias “Viceroy”, brother of Amado Carrillo Fuentes, “El Señor de los Cielos”, leader of the Juarez cartel, sentenced to 28 years in prison for organized crime with the purpose of committing crimes against health and delinquency organized with the purpose of committing money laundering and stockpiling of firearms, according to information from the news agencies AP and El Universal and the news portal of Excelsior.

Vicente Carrillo Fuentes was arrested in October 2014 in Torreón, Coahuila and according to the Attorney General’s Office (FGR), the order of formal imprisonment against “Viceroy” was issued six years ago, in June 2015, but until now it has handed down a sentence because the brother of “The Lord of the Skies” has processed various appeals to try to overthrow the accusation.
BACKGROUND
In 2016, the procedure was ordered to be reinstated and until April 20, 2017, a formal prison order was issued again, which was confirmed in November of that same year. “El Viceroy” was in charge of the Juarez Cartel after the death of “El Señor de los Cielos”, supposedly in 1997 after a plastic surgery with which he tried to change his face.
Before the rise of the Sinaloa Cartel, led by Joaquín “El Chapo” Guzmán, the Juárez Cartel was the most dangerous and powerful criminal organization in Mexico as it was the first Mexican group that worked in coordination with the Colombian cartels to transport tons of cocaine airway from South America to Mexico, to be sold in the United States.
IT HAS BEEN 7 YEARS IN JAIL
Vicente Carrillo Fuentes, “El Viceroy”, leader of the so-called Juarez Cartel, has already been in prison for 7 years.
The District Judge in Federal Criminal Proceedings convicted the kingpin after finding him guilty of organized crime for the purpose of committing crimes against health, organized crime for the purpose of committing money laundering and stockpiling firearms.

“After other procedures to which the sentenced today was entitled, and after the data provided by the Federal Public Ministry, the judge in the case handed down a sentence to Vicente ‘C’, for the aforementioned crimes, imposing a sentence of 28 years imprisonment, ”said the FGR.
TRIED TO NEGOTIATE A COVENANT
“El Viceroy” and “El Señor de los Cielos” are accused of having tried to negotiate an immunity pact with the federal government in the 90s, in exchange for associating with the Arellano Félix, not selling drugs in Mexico and delivering the 50 percent of profits to the authorities.

THEY DETAINED HIM IN TORREÓN
On October 9, 2014, when Maldonado Vega had already died, “El Viceroy” was arrested in the city of Torreón, Coahuila, a state on the border with the United States, and was imprisoned in the Western Federal Prison.
This is the first sentence that has been made public by the Prosecutor’s Office, an authority that at the time reported that the drug trafficker had five ongoing processes. In the midst of the capo’s sentence, a video was released that circulates on social networks demonstrates the way in which armed men in UNOPES military-style suits entered the Tamaulipas Prosecutor’s Office to free José Alfredo Hernández, alias el “Squidward”, leader of “Los Metros”, a group of the Gulf Cartel.
It was on July 13 when a command was captured by security cameras showing four armed people entering the facilities of the Investigative Ministerial Police. “El Squidward” died on Friday, September 3, apparently in a confrontation with members of the Army, while the authorities sought to recapture him.

However, in the video released by the “Vice World” portal, the rescue of “El Squidward” is observed, with a duration of less than three minutes. At 18:05 the video shows, a white car arrives at the entrance of the building from which four armed men dressed in tactical clothing and armored vests get out.
Without anyone opposing their entry, the subjects move through the building where they only find a man on their way who they ask to drop to the ground. Later, a woman is observed with a child in her arms, who is also forced to throw herself on the ground and between them, they protect the minor.

The command enters several offices in search of “El Squidward” and it is when they reach a corridor that they find another man whom they subject and also, they place face down on the floor. In the video released by “Vice World”, it shows how one of the armed men kicking, breaks a window to enter another office that makes him reach the partitions where the cell area is located.
It is at this moment when the video shows “El Squidward”, also known as ‘Metro 27’, reaching out through the bars of the cell. The gunman returns for a guard dressed as a municipal policeman, who opens the cell for the capo to be released.
RESCUERS
“El Squidward” advances with one of his rescuers through the corridor of the offices, until they reach the exit where they board a car that is retreating at full speed, followed by the white vehicle. In the video broadcast by “Vice World” it is observed that the rescue lasted around six minutes.
After the escape, state ministerial police, agents of the Special Operations Group and the military searched for “El Squidward” in various areas of Reynosa where clashes were recorded.
