Vancouver Weather: Cold, wet spring continues


It’s mid-May in Metro Vancouver, but the weather is stuck in late-fall mode. Snow fell overnight on some BC highways and mountain passes.

VANCOUVER, BC: Friday, May 13. It’s mid-May yet Metro Vancouver is stuck in a spell of cold, wet spring weather. Showers are forecast to end this morning, then there will be some breaks for the rest of the day, with a mix of sun and clouds. Today’s high of 12 C remains unseasonably cold as the average high for this time is around 16 C. Overnight, there’s a 60 per cent chance of showers and a low of 6 C.

Special weather statements have been issued on some of BC’s highways and mountain passes. About 2 to 10 cm of snow have already fallen overnight. Through low pressure is moving across the province this morning, and is expected to dump another two to five cm over mountain passes in the southern Interior, including the Coquihalla Highway from Hope to Merritt and Highway 3 between Hope and Princeton. Motorists are asked to prepare for winter driving conditions.
