Vancouver Police Pull 7 Limousines and Party Buses Off Road, Citing Safety Concerns – BC | The Canadian News

Vancouver police pulled seven limousines and party buses off the roads last weekend, citing safety concerns about the vehicles’ operation and condition.

Officers recommended thousands of dollars in fines in the “security bombing” for violations such as inoperable emergency exits, open liquor, broken seat belts and lack of emergency breaks.

They examined five limousines and three buses, and took all but one out of service, police said Monday.

In one vehicle, Vancouver police found seats supported by a two-inch piece of wood.

In another case, officers found 27 teens crammed into a party bus with a dance floor.

Officials recommended 27 counts of failing to provide a chaperone for passengers under the age of 19 in that case, allowing open liquor in a vehicle and operating with too many passengers.
