The province had previously accepted vaccine records without a printed QR code from the province’s MyHealth records, but as of Monday, these records are no longer accepted.

The QR code had been implemented by the province as a way to crack down on people’s ability to tamper with or falsify the printable record.

Alternatively, individuals with a Canadian Armed Forces vaccination record, a First Nations vaccination record, vaccine records issued by other provinces, an ArriveCan app for international travelers, and a valid international travel identity document, valid proof Medical exemption certificate and a privately purchased negative covid test within 72-hour access to establishments participating in the Restrictions Waiver Program.

Albertans had been given several weeks to make the change, after officials announced the changes in mid-October.

To scan the QR code, businesses must download Alberta’s Verifier app to scan codes using a smartphone or other device.

Alberta residents can access their QR code through the provincial government website: alberta.ca/CovidRecords.

Individuals can also get a free printed immunization record by visiting any registry, and they can also call 811.

The QR code can be printed and displayed manually, it can be saved to your phone with a photo, it can be downloaded to your phone, and it can also be added to an Apple Wallet or as a loyalty card in Google Pay.
