The United States Central Command reported this Friday that an investigation determined that the drone attack on August 29 in Kabul (Afghanistan) against members of ISIS-K did not reach its objectives. The agency revealed that ten innocents died instead, including a humanitarian worker.

Because it is important?: The announcement leaves behind the celebration of the government of Joe Biden and the fact in which the leader of ISIS-K, a fraction of the well-known terrorist group, allegedly died and claimed responsibility for the double attack around the Kabul airport.

  • The news adds to constant criticism of the Biden administration for the withdrawal of US troops in late August.
  • More than 120,000 people were evacuated from Afghanistan during the process in which the Taliban came to power for the first time in 20 years.

What do they say?: One of the people killed was initially listed as the main target, as he was considered “a direct threat to US forces,” said Mark Milley, Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff; however, the victim had no ties to the terrorist organization.

  • According to the official, the alleged ISIS-K terrorist had planned an “imminent” attack at the Kabul airport.
  • However, he confessed that the attack “tragically” killed “10 civilians,” including up to seven children.
