Approximately 73,000 school teachers now have a new collective agreement. These include 65,000 members of the CSQ-affiliated Fédération des syndicats de l’enseignement and 8,000 members of the Provincial Association of Teachers of Quebec who work in English-language schools.

The unions said the recently signed agreements include “significant advances” for their members, who work in preschool, primary, secondary and adult education schools. Wages are closer to the national average than at the bottom. The ESF said that “all teachers in Quebec” will see increases of 6.1 to 14.8 percent in three years.

Other improvements include the addition of 225 specialty classes over three years and a reduction in the average number of hours per week that must be devoted to school, from 32 to 30.
