Two women and a dog injured in a collision in Longueuil


Two pedestrians and their dog were hit by a vehicle, Sunday evening, near the intersection of Joliette and Saint-Laurent streets, in Longueuil.

Passers-by who witnessed the scene called the emergency services around 5:15 p.m.

The police do not count any serious injuries. As a precaution, the driver of the vehicle, a man in his twenties, as well as the two pedestrians were transported to the hospital center where they are being treated for minor injuries. The ages of the pedestrians were not disclosed, but the police were able to confirm that one of them is a minor.

As for the dog, he would have been seriously injured, but his condition would remain uncertain.

A lamppost and two other vehicles were reportedly damaged, in addition to the car involved.

Investigators rushed to the scene to determine the circumstances of the incident. They collected testimonies from passers-by who witnessed the scene.

“The area near the intersection of Joliette and Saint-Laurent streets has been closed to traffic for an indefinite period,” said spokesman for the Longueuil agglomeration police department (SPAL), François Boucher. Police are also advising road users to avoid the area.
