Two-vehicle crash leaves two dead in Témiscouata-sur-le-Lac


A man in his 70s and woman in her 80s, both passengers in one of the cars, died in the accident.

Two people died Thursday in a car accident in Témiscouata-sur-le-Lac, in Quebec’s Bas-Saint-Laurent region.

According to the Sûreté du Québec, the crash occurred around 2:15 pm on Route 232. A car traveling westbound found itself in the opposite lane at a bend in the road and collided with another vehicle.

Three people were seriously injured in the crash and rushed to a nearby hospital. Two of them succumbed to their injuries: a man in his 70s and a woman in her 80s who were passengers in one of the cars.

Both drivers suffered non-life-threatening injuries.

A police collision reconstruction expert has taken over the investigation to try to understand what happened.
