Two dead, one wounded in southwest Ont. shock

S T. THOMAS, Ont. – Provincial police say two people were killed after two pickup trucks collided in southwestern Ontario on Saturday night.

The accident occurred shortly before 9:00 pm in Elgin County, east of St. Thomas, Ontario.

Police say two vans were traveling north on Richmond Road when one of them entered a ditch and rolled multiple times, ejecting the driver and passenger.

Investigators say one person died at the scene, a second succumbed to his injuries at the hospital and a third person who had been in the vehicle received treatment for serious but not life-threatening injuries. The driver of the second truck was not injured.

The identity of the deceased is withheld pending notification of the next of kin.

Investigators say speed, alcohol and lack of seat belts are considered contributing factors, and they are asking anyone who witnessed the accident or has video of the incident to contact the Elgin County OPP.
