Two cyclists were killed after being struck by a vehicle on Walpole Island early Wednesday morning.

The incident was said to have occurred around 5 am with members of Walpole Island Police Service and Lambton County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) called to the scene on River Road.
Also responding were Chatham-Kent Emergency Medical Service and Walpole Island Fire Department.
The two cyclists were pronounced deceased, while the driver of the vehicle has been transported to hospital with serious injuries.
The names of the deceased were being held by police pending notification of family.
