Trudeau reopens Canadian embassy in kyiv during surprise visit to Ukraine


Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau reopened this Sunday the Canadian embassy in kyiv, has met with the president of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelenskyand has visited the Ukrainian town of Irpin, on the outskirts of kyiv, on a surprise trip.

In a press conference with Zelensky, Trudeau praised Ukraine’s president for his leadership and the courage of Ukrainians in defending their country.

“It was a true inspiration to see people step forward to defend their lives, their community, their future and their families in the country they love,” said the Canadian president, as reported by the Ukrainian presidency in a release.

Trudeau has stressed that it is clear that Russian President Vladimir Putin is responsible for “heinous war crimes” and that Canada will support Ukraine in seeking justice.

It has also announced military aid in the form of additional drone cameras, satellite imagery, small arms, and more artillery shells for the M-777 howitzers that Canada has provided to Ukraine.

The Prime Minister of Canada has also stated that there will be more help for the abolition of customs duties on imports from Ukraine.

For his part, Zelensky celebrated that Canada will help rebuild Ukraine after the war and confirmed that negotiations are under way with the Canadian side to lift trade restrictions for Ukrainian exporters, which will greatly help our economy.

“The people of Ukraine and Canada are side by side in the fight for freedom against the tyranny that Russia is trying to extend,” Zelensky said after the meeting with Justin Trudeau.

“I have just had the honor of speaking with the Prime Minister of Canada, Justin Trudeau. He has come to Irpin to see with his own eyes all the horror that the Russian occupation has caused to our city and of course he was surprised,” Markushin said. in his message posted on Facebook, accompanied by several photos of Trudeau.
