Trois-Rivières: suspicious fire in a former presbytery

A former presbytery located on rue Bréboeuf, in Trois-Rivières, in Mauricie, was ravaged by a suspicious fire on Sunday morning.

It was around 8:45 a.m. that firefighters received a call for a building fire. “When the firefighters arrived, there was smoke and visible flames,” said Trois-Rivières fire department operations chief Jonathan Dion.

Forty firefighters, including those from a neighboring town, were called to put out the fire. At the time of this writing, the fire was still not under control.

The origin of the flames being suspicious, the file will be transferred to the police who will take charge of the investigation, said Mr. Dion.
