Transportation Safety Board Investigates “Runway Excursion” at Kingston – Kingston Airport | The Canadian News

An emergency response was triggered on Tuesday at Kingston airport after a plane made a ‘runway excursion’ and veered off while trying to land.

“Around 6.30 I received a phone call that a plane had left the end of the runway,” says airport manager Aron Winterstein.

“We implemented our emergency response plan and deployed resources. When we went out, we found that everyone was fine. “

Winterstein says there were two pilots on the plane and there were no passengers on board. None of the pilots were injured.

It says the Embraer Phenom 300, a small business jet that seats 11 people, was landing at the airport when the runway excursion occurred.

The story continues below the ad.

“A runway excursion is when a plane runs off the runway and drifts off the road at the airport,” says Winterstein. “So if they get off the track itself.”

Winterstein says this is very rare and reiterates that air travel is one of the safest modes of travel.
