Trànsit appeals to the “maximum prudence” on the roads for Easter


This Friday at 3:00 p.m. begins the output operation from Holy Week on Catalonia and the director of Catalan Transit Service (SCT), Ramon Lamielhas appealed to the “utmost caution” in the roads because a density of commuting like the one before pandemic. The start of the first phase coincides with the beginning of the school and university holidays: this Friday it will mobilize some 490,000 vehicles from the Barcelona metropolitan areawhile the DGT forecasts 3.7 million journeys throughout the country.

Key hours of the first phase

The operation from this first phase will end tomorrow, Saturday, at 3:00 p.m. The time zone with the highest volume of traffic will be this Friday, from 2:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., and tomorrow, Saturday, from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.

As for the return, Trànsit expects it to last from 12 noon to 12 midnight on Sunday, April 10, although the hours with the highest traffic volume will be from 6 to 9 p.m. The first return operation will mobilize a total of 245,000 vehicles.

The routes where withholdings can be registered during the departure operation from this Friday to Saturday are the AP-7the C-16the C-17the C-65the C-31the N-340 and the N-145. As for the return on Sunday, these routes will be joined by the C-33the A-2 and the C-55.

In addition, it is necessary to take into account the sections affected by works that may see reduced road capacity or have narrower lanes and where it is necessary to drive with caution.
