Police have identified Cavonte Dimsdale, 18, as Toronto’s 23rd homicide victim of 2022.
Dimsdale was shot dead in the Mount Olive Dr.-Kipling Ave. neighborhood on Saturday night.
Reports of gunshots brought police to the area around 6 pm and Dimsdale was found with serious injuries. He was rushed to a hospital, where medical personnel pronounced him dead.
Police found a second shooting victim nearby at a community center. That man, also 18 years old and suffering serious injuries, was taken to hospital.
On Sunday, Toronto Police Const. Laura Brabant said the second man’s injuries were serious, but not life-threatening.
Police are looking for dash-cam or video footage from the area and ask anyone who was in the vicinity at the time of the shootings to contact them.
No suspect information has been released. Whether the two shootings are connected has not been clarified by Investigators.
