Three Windsor-Essex drivers face alcohol-related charges

The Essex County OPP says it arrested three drivers over the weekend for alcohol-related offenses.

On Friday, December 10 at 11:48 p.m., officers responded from a vehicle to a ditch on County Road 11 in Essex. As a result of an investigation, a 63-year-old Windsor man was charged with:

  • Drunk operation: alcohol and drugs
  • Operation while intoxicated: blood alcohol concentration (more than 80)

On Saturday, December 11 at 12:31 am, a Leamington OPP member made a traffic stop at Erie Street South in Leamington. OPP says the officer determined that the driver had consumed alcohol. The driver was subsequently arrested and transported to the detachment where they provided breath samples to an Intoxilyzer technician. As a result, a 23-year-old Leamington man was charged with:

  • Operation while intoxicated: blood alcohol concentration (more than 80)

Later on Saturday at 5:42 pm, members of the Essex OPP and the West Region Traffic Incident Enforcement and Control Team (TIME) responded to a collision involving a single vehicle in a building on Talbot Street North in the city of Essex. As a result of an investigation, a 64-year-old Essex woman was charged with:

  • Operation while intoxicated: blood alcohol concentration (more than 80)

All of the defendants are scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice at a later date. A 90-day administrative driver’s license suspension (ADLS) and a statutory 7-day vehicle seizure were initiated for the defendant.

In the past two weeks, the Essex County OPP arrested and charged nine drivers with driving while intoxicated.

Police say if you suspect someone is driving while your ability to operate a motor vehicle is impaired, either by drugs or alcohol, call the police at 911 to report it immediately.
