Three accused killers arrested in two of the recent Toronto firearm killings

Three men have been arrested in two of the seven deadly shootings that unfolded in the city during eight days of bloodshed.

Shots erupted in a parking lot on Bakersfield St. – near Sheppard Ave. W. and Keele St. – around 3:35 am, killing one man and wounding another.

Officers responded to the scene and found a man suffering multiple gunshot wounds.

Police said he was rushed to hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.

“Shortly after the shooting, a man attended a local hospital on his own, where he was treated for a non-life threatening gunshot wound,” the homicide sergeant said. Robert Choe said in a statement released that day.

“Both men had attended a private event prior to the shooting,” he said.

The dead man was later identified as Nikie Timm, 37, of Toronto.

Two Toronto men were arrested Saturday for Timm’s murder.

David Benjamin and Leary Hibbert, both 41, are charged with one count of first-degree murder and one count of attempted murder.

So far this year, Toronto has suffered 73 murders, 39 by firearms.

Saturday October 23:

12:35 a.m. – Kamal Daley, 28, of Toronto, was shot and killed on Jane St. and Yorkwoods Gate, south of Finch Ave. W.

2:20 am – A 36-year-old man, Donald Leroy “Smokey” Marson, was fatally shot in an alley on Eglinton Ave. W., near Keele St.

3:40 p.m. – Mathio Youkhanna, 24, was shot in the parking lot of a plaza at Weston Rd. And Hwy 401.

Sunday October 24:

Thursday, October 28:

3:40 am – Jamal James, 27, was shot and killed on Washburn Way, near Neilson and Tapscott Rds., In Scarborough.

Friday October 29:

4:50 am – A man in his 30s was walking his dog when he was fatally shot on Kennedy Rd., North of Ellesmere Rd., In Scarborough.
