They order Morena to withdraw campaign messages “traitors to the Homeland”

The members of the Complaints and Denunciations Commission of the National Electoral Institute (INE) ordered the president of Morena, Mario Delgado, and other members of that party, to stop the “hate campaign” with the slogan “traitors to the Homeland”, which they undertook against legislators from the PAN, PRI, PRD and MC, for the sole fact that they voted against the constitutional reform initiative on electricity promoted by President Andrés Manuel López Obrador.

Unanimously by the councilors Claudia Zavala, Ciro Murayama and Adriana Favela, the INE Complaints and Denunciations Commission determined that said “hate campaign” may violate the rights of legislators, and even put their integrity at risk.

In resolving a precautionary measure requested by the PRI against the Morena party and its national president, for alleged slander for spreading the “traitors to the homeland” campaign on social networks, the Commission determined that the publications in which said expression is mentioned directly imputes a crime for which guilt has not been established, since treason is a criminal type provided for in the Federal Penal Code.

It was argued that the General Law of Political Parties establishes in its article 25 that it is the obligation of political parties to conduct their activities within the legal channels and adjust their conduct and that of their members to the principles of the democratic State, respecting free political participation. of the other political parties and the rights of citizens, guidelines that Morena would have failed to respect when deploying the campaign.

For this reason, the Commission ordered Mario Delgado to immediately eliminate the reported publications hosted on Twitter, as well as any other electronic or printed platform under his domain, control or administration.

Likewise, it instructed the INE’s Electoral Contentious Technical Unit to determine who is responsible for the page “traidorasalapatria.mx”, available on the Internet, so that it can be withdrawn from public access.
