The Windsor assembly plant will not produce vehicles for the first three weeks of the New Year, Stellantis announced Wednesday.
The plant will be closed for the weeks of January 3, 10 and 17, according to a post on the Unifor Local 444 Facebook page.
The plant recently called in about 100 layoff workers to fill shifts during the holidays.
The Windsor Assembly Plant, the city’s largest private employer, currently has about 4,500 employees.
Earlier this year, it was announced that the plant would be converted to a one-shift operation in April 2022 thanks, in part, to global supply chain issues that particularly affect computer chips. Some 1,800 people are expected to be laid off.
