The epidemic indicators they continue to worsen in Catalonia and recovering values from last summer: already registers more than 1,000 new infections daily of covid, something that had not happened since mid-August, and the hospitals increase the number of admitted, at an increasing rate, mainly in terms of ucis occupation refers. This Wednesday there are 565 patients admitted (compared to the 519 notified yesterday), of which 127 (six more) are in critical condition.
Thus, the escalation of the sixth wave of coronavirus in Catalonia is consolidated, a community that is pending judicial endorsement to carry the passport covid to restaurants, gyms and nursing homes. With this new requirement, a boost could be given to vaccination, which, although high, is still stagnant in 75% of the inhabitants with the complete schedule, 84% if only those over 12 years of age are counted. Experts, such as researchers from the Biocomsc UPC group, insist on the need for vaccination:
🆕 Risc or benefits?
New graph, based on the report by vaccine status.
So the Vaccinated (PC) will see the direct benefit with respect to the Unvaccinated (NV).
And the Unvaccinated will have to take the risk of not doing so.

Regarding the figures reported daily by Salut, those of this Wednesday indicate than the risk of regrowth (EPG), an index that measures the growth potential of the epidemic, continues to grow rapidly and has been placed in the 223 points, with which the epidemic curve lines up again vertically. This risk is triple that of two weeks ago. The rate of spread of the virus (Rt), on the other hand, decreases (it is the only indicator that does). Today it is 1.38, that is, every 100 infected infect an average of 138 people. Yesterday it was at 1.42.
The official number of deaths from covid since the beginning of the epidemic amounts to 24,093, four of them notified in the last 24 hours, although in the last seven days mortality has risen to 27 deaths from the disease, an average of almost four deaths a day.
Since the beginning of the epidemic, a total of 1,028,599 people have been diagnosed with covid-19 by all kinds of tests in Catalonia, 1,891 of them accounted for in the last 24 hours, while in the last week there have been 7,475 diagnosed by PCR or antigen test (AT).
The cumulative incidence of cases confirmed by PCR or antigen test at 7 days per 100,000 inhabitants (IA7) is 99.5 cases, while the accumulated incidence at 14 days (IA14) stands at 165 cases.
The positivity – the percentage of CRP and TA with a positive result – is 5%, the maximum percentage established by the World Health Organization (WHO) to consider an epidemic under control.
