The Sindicatura de Comptes has paid 338,000 euros in three years to four former members


The Sindicatura de Comptes de Catalunya, the audit body for the accounts and economic management of the Catalan public sector, has paid 338,822 euros in three years to four former members who have already stopped working in this organization, but continue to be civil servants.

According to the newspaper ‘Ara’, Agusti Colom has perceived €150,142 in three years since he left the organization in 2011; Montserrat de Vehi Has charged €108,913 since he left the Sindicatura in 2007; Montserrat Vendrell -who was secretary general of the body between 2004 and 2011- has received €52,355; Y Joan Colomformer mayor, has received €27,411.

In a statement, the Sindicatura de Comptes has explained that the members of this body who have the status of civil servants “have the right to receive a 5% of monthly payments -excluding seniority- for each merited three-year period” in the organization exclusively during the time they are in office.

These remunerations, underlines the statement, “are regulated by law and do not depend on a decision of any organ of the Audit Office, since they are legally established remuneration“.

According to the Sindicatura, the three-year periods, once merited, “become part of the consolidated economic rights of former members” who have “the status of officials and, therefore, they have the right to collect it, as has been repeatedly endorsed by the jurisprudence of the supreme court“.
