The reform of the National Water Law will not be touched until there is a consensus: Ricardo Monreal

Monterey, NL. The reform of the National Water Law will not be touched until there is a consensus from all parties, which is why a space was given to listen to all voices, said Ricardo Monreal Ávila, president of the Political Coordination Board of the Senate, after a meeting with the members of the Chamber of the Transformation Industry of Nuevo León (Caintra).

“We are not going to touch it (this initiative) until there is a consensus of all. If we want to touch it; The last day of sessions was going to happen the week before, but there were claims from several associations, we wanted to give a break to listen to all the voices, ”explained the legislator from Morena.

It should be remembered that the Chamber of Deputies approved by consensus reforms to the National Water Law, in March 2021, to establish that the National Water Program includes sustainable use, savings and efficient use, which will ensure the availability of the liquid.

Regarding the water crisis that Nuevo León is going through, he commented that a comprehensive water solution is being sought, and that will be one of the issues that President Andrés Manuel López Obrador will probably address during his visit to the state, next Friday the 13th. of May.

The senator said that the National Water Commission already has some alternatives for water supply and that Caintra told him that they are talking with Governor Samuel García Sepúlveda to make a comprehensive approach.

“They can do it this week, I would recommend that they meet before (AMLO’s visit) so that they make an approach to President Andrés Manuel López Obrador, he comes on Friday, let’s take advantage of the will that the president has with Nuevo León to seek comprehensive solutions ” Monreal Ávila emphasized.

In turn, the president of Caintra Nuevo León, Rodrigo Fernández Martínez, commented that there are different long-term alternatives that could work, although the important thing is to build a complete solution for the short term.

“We have heard different projects, we are seeing them together with the Nuevo León Council, to go back to the governor and find out (in his opinion) what the best alternative is. We are working on it, we hope for the weekend and to have something more concrete”, affirmed the leader of the industrialists.

Meeting with Caintra

Senator Ricardo Monreal explained to the press that there were two meetings with Caintra, one of them with the Council and later with the other affiliates. “It was a productive dialogue, a frank, open meeting, where there was an interaction and questions, doubts, about the legislative work.”

The legislator of the Morena Parliamentary Group was asked how businessmen participate with the legislative power, he replied that businessmen have remained in the part of autonomy and independence and their voice is indispensable in both chambers and in the deliberative bodies, since dialogue is increasingly necessary.

For his part, Rodrigo Fernández added that Caintra participates as part of the Confederation of Industrial Chambers (Concamin) and the Business Coordinating Council (CCE), hence the concerns of private initiative must be put on the table and dialogue with the government , so that together they can build the things that the country requires.
