The person responsible for applying the 25% Spanish quota in Catalan schools resigns

“I am closing my stage as general director of the Department of Education, a stage that has allowed me to face great professional challenges and contribute to the educational transformation of this country,” she explained in a video. “And I do it to be able to dedicate myself with all my energy to our municipality and to be able to concentrate on Sant Vicenç dels Horts. To make myself available to citizens and make Sant Vicenç prosper and be a first-class municipality,” he added. Aymerich has admitted that leaving Educació “has not been an easy decision” but he has taken it “with enthusiasm” and with the “conviction” of being able to collaborate in the “transformation of Sant Vicenç”.

At the head of the General Directorate of Curriculum, Aymerich was responsible for, among other things, promoting and promote the multilingual model of the Catalan educational system and guide the educational action of Catalan centers. It was also in charge of organizing the curriculum for infant, primary, secondary and high school education, specifying the basic competencies and the contents of each educational level.

His resignation occurs just a few days after the Supreme Court ruling ratifying the judgment of the TSJC which sets a quota of 25% of Spanish in Catalan classrooms and in full controversy over the application of this resolution.

This same Monday, the representatives of the Central Boards of Directors of Primary and Secondary Education Centers of Catalonia have assured in an appearance in Parliament that “they will comply with current legislation”. with regard to the Supreme Court’s resolution.
