The partners of the Government request resignations as soon as possible and ERC points to Robles and Esteban (CNI)

  • United We Can maintains that the heads of those most responsible should roll who did not prevent the espionage on Sánchez

The announcement that Pedro Sanchez Y Margaret Oaks were spied on almost a year ago has provoked the outrage of United We Can and the investiture partners. The allied parties of the Executive do not understand how this security breach could have occurred. And, much less, how it has not been discovered until now. Beyond the doubts about whether the information they gave is real, the entire partners have demanded that political responsibilities be purged. Even so, only the ERC spokesperson, Gabriel Rufianhas dared to name these resignations: Robles herself and the director of the National Intelligence Center, Peace Stephen.

“I think that in any democratic country, if the head of the intelligence services [Robles] and the director of those intelligence services [Esteban]he forgets that the telephone number of the Prime Minister and surely a large part of the Council of Ministers is being illegally spied on their position would be untenable”, has denounced the leader of the Catalan Republicans. In this sense, he has been scandalized by the fact that the heads of security “have not been able to prevent” that Sánchez and Robles’ mobile phones were intervened with Pegasus almost a year ago.

Without pointing it out directly, the spokesman for United We Can in Congress, Pablo Echenique, has also argued that “the time has come for political responsibilities to be assumed of their own accord.” The purple leader has stressed that they should be the “responsible persons who were in charge” when the espionage of the head of state took place. “If actions are taken, the facts are clarified, responsibilities are purged, our democracy would be strengthened. It would be weakened if this leads to nothing,” Echenique continued.

Aitor Esteban (PNV) and Mertxe Aizpurua (EH Bildu) have been more cautious, who have opted to launch an investigation and clarify the facts before indicating who should resign. “We believe that before demanding responsibilities we have to try to clarify what has happened,” Esteban stressed.
