The mercury drops drastically on Sunday


Temperatures are expected to drop sharply in Quebec on Sunday after heavy snowfall disrupted traffic in the province this weekend.

The polar cold, carried by the system which caused gusts of wind and covered part of the Belle Province, will be short-lived. On Monday the temperatures will rise to reach abnormally high figures for the season.

The mercury should drop below the -10 mark in certain regions of Quebec on Sunday during the day. According to Meteomedia, the temperatures rather fluctuate around 1 degree normally at this time of the year.

The winter storm warning remains in effect for areas of the St. Lawrence Valley, according to Environment Canada. A blowing snow advisory has been issued in Saguenay, dangerous road conditions due to reduced visibility are to be anticipated in certain places.

Estrie and Beauce should receive an additional 5 to 10 centimeters, Gaspésie, about fifteen accompanied by strong winds and 20 to 35 centimeters are expected in Rimouski by Sunday morning.
